Unseasonably warm air across the Southeast, with forecast highs in the low 90s (10–15°F above the September average), limits overnight radiative cooling under mostly clear skies and light variable winds. Official National Weather Service guidance points to a low near 70–72°F, consistent with recent climatological trends of elevated minima amid persistent warmth, while historical September 17 lows average 65°F. These factors create tight market-implied odds between the sub-60°F and mid-60°F bins, as traders weigh the potential for stronger cooling if winds remain calm versus the warm-air advection sustaining temperatures in the upper 60s. Updated model runs and surface observations through the morning will clarify whether dew-point depressions allow further drops before sunrise.
