Current National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model guidance point to a minimum near 66°F in New York City on August 29 under mostly clear skies and light northwesterly flow following frontal passage, supporting the narrow lead for the 66-67°F bin. Clear conditions overnight will promote radiative cooling from surfaces after daytime highs reach the low 80s, while dew points in the mid-50s to low 60s limit further drops and light winds reduce mixing that could otherwise elevate the low. Minor variations in cloud timing, exact wind speeds, or urban heat island effects could shift the reading into adjacent 64-65°F or 68-69°F buckets, consistent with the tightly clustered market-implied odds reflecting limited forecast spread this close to resolution.
