UK economic forecasts for 2026 center on modest positive GDP growth of 0.9-1.4%, reflecting resilient services output and expected Bank of England rate cuts amid cooling inflation near 3%, which outweighs headwinds from fiscal contraction and unemployment edging toward 5.3%. Recent quarterly data showing 0.6% Q1 expansion and stabilizing labor market trends have reinforced trader consensus around the 85% implied probability against recession. Key catalysts ahead include August inflation prints, upcoming ONS GDP releases, and BoE policy decisions that could further ease financial conditions and support consumption. While downside risks from weak business sentiment persist, the market-implied odds align with the absence of contraction signals in leading indicators.
