Third-seeded Alex de Minaur, ATP No. 7, holds a clear edge over qualifier Hamad Medjedovic, No. 88, in the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell Round of 16 on clay, buoyed by his prior straight-sets win over the Serb at Australian Open 2026 and recent R32 victory against Sebastian Ofner. Medjedovic enters on a four-match winning streak through qualifying, including a gritty three-set escape past Quentin Halys while saving a match point, showcasing his aggressive baseline power suited to clay. De Minaur's speed and return game thrive on Barcelona's faster clay, though his season began unevenly with a Monte Carlo quarterfinal exit to Valentin Vacherot after beating Cameron Norrie and Alexander Blockx. No injury concerns reported; surface history favors the Australian's improving clay form over the 22-year-old's upset bid.
