Pavel Kotov advanced past Yi Zhou in the Busan Challenger Round of 32 on hard courts with a 6-1, 2-0 retirement win on April 14, after 43 minutes marked by Zhou's 24 unforced errors against Kotov's efficient 7 winners and 2 aces. Pre-match trader consensus favored the 27-year-old Russian (ATP 262) over the 21-year-old Chinese (ATP 220), driven by Kotov's 2-0 head-to-head edge—including a prior Beijing straight-sets victory—and hotter recent hardcourt form via a Wuning Challenger semifinal run. No pre-match injuries surfaced, but Zhou's quick capitulation highlights potential physical or form vulnerabilities amid his mixed qualifier results. Kotov faces Leandro Riedi next.
