Recent National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model consensus indicate Austin highs on September 25 will likely reach the upper 90s, supported by a persistent subtropical ridge promoting strong subsidence, clear to partly cloudy skies, and light easterly winds that limit mixing and moisture advection. This setup sustains temperatures 8–10°F above the late-September climatological normal near 89°F, with minimal precipitation chances reducing evaporative cooling. The close split between 96–97°F and 98–99°F outcomes reflects small uncertainties in boundary-layer depth, afternoon dew-point trends, and subtle model differences in ridge strength or weak seabreeze influences. Updated short-range guidance and next model cycles will refine these details ahead of the daily maximum.
