Persistent easterly flow off Lake Michigan and lingering cloud cover are anchoring trader focus on the 66–69°F range for Chicago’s September 25 high, aligning with National Weather Service guidance of 66–68°F under stable high pressure. Onshore winds suppress daytime warming while moderating overnight lows near 55–58°F, keeping the diurnal range narrow. Current ensemble runs show limited spread, with minimal warm-air advection expected before the period. Historical climatology places the late-September average near 73°F, so the below-normal signal supports the market’s tight clustering around the lower 60s-to-upper 60s bins. Fresh model cycles and any shift in wind direction remain the key near-term catalysts that could nudge probabilities between the leading outcomes.
