Gold trades near $4,550–$4,600 after pulling back from $4,700 highs amid hawkish signals from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh at Jackson Hole, which lifted the market-implied probability of a September rate hike to around 58% and strengthened the dollar. Persistent July core PCE inflation at 3.7% and firm labor data have reinforced expectations for tighter policy, capping upside for the non-yielding metal despite Treasury long-end buybacks and robust central bank purchases of 289 tonnes in Q2. Traders will focus on upcoming August ISM PMI, employment reports, and any further Fed commentary for shifts in real yields and USD direction that could test support near $4,500 or resistance above $4,650 during the week of August 31.
