Canada's 2026 annual CPI inflation market shows the strongest trader consensus around the 2.5–2.9% band amid elevated headline readings driven by energy prices. July 2026 CPI rose to 3.0% year-over-year from 2.8% in June, following a May peak of 3.2%, primarily due to gasoline costs surging over 25% on Middle East supply disruptions. The Bank of Canada has held its policy rate at 2.25% through multiple 2026 meetings, citing weak growth, limited core pass-through, and expectations that inflation will converge toward the 2% target by 2027 as energy effects fade. Official projections, including federal budget estimates, place average 2026 CPI near 2.5%, supporting the market-implied odds while leaving room for volatility from ongoing geopolitical risks and upcoming CPI releases.
