Recent National Weather Service and model ensemble guidance for Chicago points to a high in the mid-to-upper 70s on September 10, with the narrow spread between 76–77 °F and 78–79 °F reflecting small differences in forecast boundary-layer mixing, afternoon cloud cover, and the precise timing of weak southerly flow. Persistent high pressure supports modest warming from seasonal norms near 78 °F, while any increase in stratus or a slightly earlier veering wind could cap readings one to two degrees lower. Traders weigh these variables against historical verification biases in the local mesonet, with final resolution hinging on official observations at O’Hare by midnight local time.
