This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Kuala Lumpur Intl Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 8 Sep '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=wmkk If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source. In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C. This market will resolve once the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, whichever comes first. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**Official forecasts from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) project a maximum of 33°C for Kuala Lumpur on September 8, with haze in the morning and scattered afternoon thunderstorms.** This aligns closely with the market's leading outcomes, where 33°C holds 44.5% implied probability and 34°C follows at 34.5%, reflecting trader consensus around typical early-September conditions. In equatorial Kuala Lumpur, peak temperatures are shaped by high solar insolation, urban heat effects, and the influence of the Intertropical Convergence Zone, which drives convective activity. Afternoon thunderstorms—common during the southwest monsoon transition—often cap daytime highs by increasing cloud cover and evaporative cooling, keeping readings near the 32–34°C range observed in recent days. Current haze (noted across multiple sources) may slightly reduce incoming radiation, while light winds limit mixing. Model outputs and historical September baselines (average highs near 31–32°C) support this narrow band, with only modest upside risk to 35°C+ if convection is delayed. Key near-term catalysts include updated METMalaysia briefings and any shifts in thunderstorm timing or intensity, which could tip resolution between the top two outcomes. The market-implied odds thus embed realistic uncertainty around these variables rather than a single deterministic value.
