Recent Met Office and BBC forecasts point to a high-pressure ridge promoting mostly sunny or bright conditions across southeast England on September 20, supporting daytime maxima near 20–22 °C, while global models such as GFS show slightly cooler outcomes around 19 °C under more persistent cloud and northwest winds. The tight clustering of market-implied odds between 18 °C and 22 °C reflects this model spread, driven by uncertainty in afternoon cloud cover, boundary-layer mixing, and the precise timing of any sea-breeze or frontal influences that could cap or enhance insolation. Historical September baselines for London average highs near 19 °C, placing current guidance slightly above normal but still sensitive to small shifts in the 48-hour forecast window; traders will watch the next Met Office update and ensemble runs for clearer signals on peak temperature.
