Recent National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance indicates Austin will experience continued southerly flow under a strong ridge, sustaining warm advection and high insolation for September 16. Forecast highs cluster in the upper 90s, with several runs showing peaks near 98–100 °F depending on afternoon cloud cover and boundary-layer mixing. This places the market’s leading 100–101 °F and 98–99 °F bins in close contention, as small differences in dew-point suppression or timing of any southeast wind shift could determine whether the daily maximum crosses 100 °F. Historical climatology shows an average high near 91 °F and a record of 99 °F, underscoring how the current anomalous warmth supports elevated probabilities for the upper bins while leaving room for modest cooling if marine-layer influence strengthens. Updated model runs and local observations on the 15th will provide the next key data points.
