Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance shows Chicago under southwest flow advecting warm, humid air ahead of a weak front, with mostly sunny skies and light-to-moderate winds favoring strong daytime heating on September 2. Forecast highs cluster in the low-to-mid 90s, above the early-September climatological average near 80°F, while afternoon heat indices may reach the upper 90s. Minor differences between 92–93°F and 94–95°F outcomes hinge on exact cloud cover, boundary-layer mixing depth, and any scattered convection timing. Traders are weighting the consensus toward these two bins because ensemble spreads remain narrow and recent model runs have stabilized near 91–94°F. Updated NWS grids and evening model cycles will provide the next clear signal before the daily maximum is recorded.
