Republican incumbent Jeff Crank faces a Democratic primary on June 30 to determine his November opponent in Colorado’s 5th District, a Colorado Springs seat that has shifted leftward in recent presidential cycles. The DCCC added the district to its target list in February after its partisan voting index moved to R+5 and one Democratic candidate outraised Crank, prompting forecasters including the Cook Political Report to rate the race Likely Republican. Crank holds an unopposed primary while Democrats Jessica Killin and Joe Reagan compete, with the winner needing to overcome the district’s historical Republican lean and recent 54.7% Crank general-election margin. Trader positioning reflects these structural and fundraising dynamics ahead of the primaries.
