Paul St-Pierre Plamondon leads trader assessments for Quebec’s next premier because the Parti Québécois maintains a narrow but consistent edge in recent polling ahead of the October 5 election, positioning the party to win the most seats under first-past-the-post rules despite popular-vote margins often below five points. Christine Fréchette, the CAQ leader and incumbent premier since April 2026, has narrowed gaps in late-summer surveys as the campaign centers on U.S. tariffs, health care, education and economic management, though her party trails after years of declining support. Charles Milliard’s Liberals and smaller parties remain further back, limiting alternative paths. The market reflects trader consensus on these polling and seat-projection trends, with debates scheduled for mid-September offering potential catalysts.
