United Russia maintains a commanding position in the September 18-20, 2026, State Duma elections due to its control of candidate nominations across all 225 single-mandate districts, integration of Special Military Operation veterans into party lists, and administrative resources that historically translate modest party-list support (around 47-53% in recent FOM and VTsIOM surveys) into a large seat majority. Kremlin-aligned figures such as Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin head prominent slots, while opposition parties face restricted competition in key districts and limited media access. Trader consensus at 99.1% for United Russia gaining the most seats reflects these structural factors in Russia's mixed electoral system. Scenarios that could still alter outcomes include unexpected turnout shifts, late security disruptions during the three-day vote, or major battlefield developments that sharply erode public confidence before polls close.
