Recent National Weather Service forecasts highlight a Southern California heat wave, with downtown Los Angeles projected to reach highs of 93–102°F on September 9 amid lingering moisture from prior tropical influences and reduced sea breeze. This setup supports the near-even market split between 94–95°F and 96°F-plus bins, as model runs and microclimate differences across observation sites introduce uncertainty in the exact peak. Official heat advisories and extreme heat warnings underscore the elevated baseline, while afternoon wind patterns and humidity levels remain key variables that could push readings across the 96°F threshold or hold them slightly lower.
