Latvia’s October 2026 Saeima election remains a tight contest between Apvienotais Saraksts (AS) and Latvia First (LPV), whose implied probabilities sit nearly even according to trader pricing. Recent SKDS polling shows both parties leading the field, with AS holding a modest edge on the back of stronger regional and environmental appeals while LPV maintains momentum through right-wing populist messaging and dissatisfaction with the current New Unity-led coalition. High undecided shares and fragmented support for Progressives, Sovereign Power, and National Alliance keep the outcome fluid. Key factors sustaining the deadlock include voter fatigue with incumbents, coalition performance on economic and security issues, and the five-percent threshold that rewards consolidated lists. Further separation could emerge from late-summer campaigning, candidate withdrawals, or shifts in turnout among rural and Russian-speaking voters.
