A passing cold front and associated southerly winds have driven cooler maritime air into Cape Town, with South African Weather Service guidance and model runs indicating an overnight minimum near 12–13°C on September 16 amid lingering showers and gusty conditions early in the period. Radiative cooling under partial clearing later favors lower readings, while sustained winds enhance turbulent mixing that limits further drops. Official station data from Cape Town International Airport will resolve the market; historical September minima average near 10–11°C, but current steering patterns and moisture reduce the chance of sub-10°C extremes. Trader sentiment reflects model spread on exact timing of clearing and wind strength.
