Recent inflation data and Federal Reserve communications have shaped DXY trading around the 98.8–99.7 range during the week of August 24. July PCE came in near 3.7% headline and 3.3% core, while softer consumer confidence and mixed jobs signals reduced odds of a September rate hike to about 38%. Treasury yields eased modestly, and Fed officials including Boston Fed President Collins and Chair Warsh highlighted persistent above-target inflation at Jackson Hole, noting potential tightening if disinflation stalls. Traders are weighing these policy signals against labor-market cooling and upcoming releases such as August employment data, keeping the dollar index range-bound amid shifting rate expectations.
