Recent S&P 500 levels near 7,674 after pulling back from August highs above 7,800 reflect pressure from elevated Treasury yields, with the 30-year above 5.2% and the 10-year near 4.74%. Trader focus centers on the July core PCE release and Q2 GDP revision due August 26, followed immediately by the Jackson Hole Symposium beginning August 27, where Fed communications could shift rate-cut expectations from the current 3.5–3.75% funds-rate range. Nvidia earnings the same day and ongoing AI-driven earnings momentum provide additional near-term catalysts, while recent softer inflation prints and Treasury buyback measures support a baseline of resilience around current index levels.
