Latest National Weather Service and model guidance for Atlanta on August 29 projects a high in the upper 80s, with partly sunny skies giving way to a 30-50% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms that promote cooling and limit peak heating. This consensus, centered near 86-88°F, stems from typical late-summer moisture and instability across the Southeast, where diurnal convection often caps temperatures below earlier-month values near 95°F. Easterly flow and higher humidity further suppress maximums by enhancing cloud cover. Market-implied odds favor the 86-87°F bin because forecasters see only modest day-to-day variability in storm timing or coverage, with resolution hinging on official observations at Hartsfield-Jackson airport. Traders monitor updated model runs and NWS briefings for any shifts in steering patterns or instability indices that could push readings into the low 90s or hold them lower.
