The September 13, 2026, Okinawa gubernatorial election features a fragmented field where trader consensus prices Genta Koja highest at 45.5% amid support from the LDP and its coalition partners, followed by Shun Kaneshima and incumbent Denny Tamaki. Recent national election shifts have eroded Tamaki's base, with the Centrist Reform Alliance remaining undecided on the Henoko relocation of U.S. Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, while Koja emphasizes economic priorities. Multiple independent and minor-party candidacies, including Mikio Shimoji and Chosuke Yara, further split preferences in this single-member race. The tight pricing reflects uncertainty over turnout among base-opposition voters, local economic concerns, and potential late endorsements that could consolidate support before the vote.
