The Kagawa gubernatorial election on August 30, 2026, features incumbent Toyohito Ikeda seeking a second term after his 2022 victory, with his position strengthened by recent party endorsements including from the Centrist Reform Coalition. Multiple independent and other candidates have entered, creating a fragmented field that keeps probabilities competitive despite Ikeda's lead in trader consensus. The resignation of the prior officeholder in late 2025 and the short campaign window have limited opportunities for challengers to build broad support, while Ikeda benefits from established name recognition and institutional backing. Key factors that could shift odds include final candidate filings, additional endorsements, or turnout patterns among local voters in the days leading to the vote.
