Georgia’s open lieutenant governor race between Democratic state Sen. Josh McLaurin and Republican state Sen. Greg Dolezal remains tight two months before the November 3, 2026, election, reflecting the state’s competitive political environment and the absence of an incumbent. Both candidates secured their nominations after June runoffs, with McLaurin highlighting bipartisan legislative work and affordability measures while Dolezal emphasizes conservative priorities such as tax reform, school choice, and election integrity. Recent statewide polling shows narrow margins, aligning with trader consensus that views the contest as highly sensitive to suburban turnout and messaging on state-level issues. Further separation could emerge from scheduled debates, major endorsements, or shifts in economic or national political conditions affecting voter priorities.
