James Talarico holds a strong position in trader assessments for Tarrant County in the 2026 Texas U.S. Senate race due to Democratic gains in suburban areas and his statewide polling competitiveness against Ken Paxton. Recent surveys through late summer 2026 show the contest rated as a toss-up or lean Republican by forecasters, with Talarico benefiting from substantial fundraising and independent support while Paxton consolidated Republican voters after defeating incumbent John Cornyn in the May primary runoff. Tarrant County’s mix of urban and suburban voters has trended more competitive in recent cycles, supporting elevated odds for Talarico over Paxton and minor-party or independent candidates on the November ballot. The election remains two months away, leaving room for shifts from turnout, campaign events, or late developments.
