Recent polling for New Zealand's 7 November general election shows National and Labour trading narrow leads in party vote support, with both major parties well ahead of smaller competitors such as the Greens, ACT, and New Zealand First. This volatility, driven by shifting economic sentiment, coalition government performance under Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, and Labour's opposition positioning under Chris Hipkins, keeps the race for second place highly competitive. Traders see limited scope for smaller parties to overtake either major contender before election day. Late-campaign events, including policy releases, economic indicators, or turnout shifts among key voter blocs, could widen the gap between the two front-runners.
