Incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) commands overwhelming trader consensus at 96% implied probability of victory in Assam's 126-seat Legislative Assembly following April 9 single-phase polling with record voter turnout above 80%, signaling strong enthusiasm among BJP strongholds. Pre-election opinion polls from IANS-Matrize and others projected NDA 90+ seats, building on their 2021 majority of 75 seats under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, bolstered by welfare schemes, infrastructure gains, and alliances with Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People's Front (BPF). Congress-led opposition, weakened by key defections and fragmented alliances, trails far behind. Vote counting occurs May 4; rare disruptions like widespread recounts or EVM disputes could challenge this, though structural advantages and polling trends make an upset improbable.
