Recent southerly wind shifts and a cold front approaching Wellington have driven cooler, wetter conditions expected on September 7, with official forecasts from sources like MetService and international models converging on a maximum of 11–13°C amid persistent rain and cloud cover. This contrasts with milder 13–14°C highs observed earlier in the week under northwesterly flows. Historical September averages near 12°C provide context, but the timing of this frontal passage—within 48 hours of market resolution—has concentrated trader sentiment on the narrow 12–14°C band, where model consensus is strongest while acknowledging typical forecast spread of 1–2°C for coastal sites.
