**Trader consensus favors 14–16 magnitude 7.0+ earthquakes for 2026 at 48.5% implied probability, consistent with the USGS long-term global average of roughly 15–16 such events annually.** As of mid-September, official catalogs record 11–12 events of M7.0–7.9 and none of M8.0+, placing the year-to-date pace near or slightly below the historical mean. Recent activity includes several notable events in June–August (including M7.8 shocks in the Philippines and Indonesia, plus M7.5 and M7.4 events in Venezuela and Colombia), but September has remained quiet above M7.0. Seismic rates exhibit natural year-to-year fluctuation without evidence of systematic increase or decrease; current monitoring shows no anomalous clustering or prolonged quiescence that would strongly favor outcomes outside the central 14–19 range. With roughly three months remaining, additional data from USGS and similar agencies will refine the final tally.
