Nicolás Maduro faces a June 2027 trial in U.S. federal court in New York on a four-count superseding indictment charging narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, and related weapons offenses. Captured in a January 2026 U.S. military operation and extradited to New York, he and his wife have pleaded not guilty and intend to contest the case on head-of-state immunity grounds, the legality of his apprehension, and jurisdictional issues. A September 2, 2026, motions deadline and November 17 hearing precede the trial, with additional pretrial steps extending into 2027. Traders assign 77% probability to “No” due to the extended timeline before any verdict, the narrow December 31, 2027, resolution window, historical challenges in securing convictions on every count in complex narco-terrorism prosecutions, and the realistic prospect of plea negotiations, partial acquittals, or unresolved appeals.
