OpenAI’s confidential S-1 filing in June 2026, paired with CEO Sam Altman’s insistence on a $1 trillion IPO valuation, remains the dominant factor shaping trader expectations for its eventual closing market cap. The company’s most recent private round priced it at $852 billion in March 2026 on a roughly $40 billion annualized revenue run rate, though GAAP losses are projected near $62 billion for 2026. Recent volatility in comparable AI-related listings, including SpaceX’s post-IPO swings, has reinforced internal signals favoring a potential 2027 debut over a 2026 offering at a lower multiple. With Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley leading the process, market-implied odds will hinge on sustained revenue growth, infrastructure spending commitments, and broader tech-sector sentiment around trillion-dollar AI valuations.
