Incumbent Democrat Josh Kaul holds a strong position in the 2026 Wisconsin Attorney General race, reflected in trader consensus around 79.5% implied probability compared to Republican Eric Toney at 21.5%. Kaul seeks a third term after narrow victories in 2018 and 2022, including a 1.3-point rematch win over Toney four years ago. Both candidates advanced unopposed through August 11 primaries, with Kaul securing endorsements from labor groups and Democratic lawmakers. Recent factors include Kaul’s fundraising edge in mid-2026 reports, a Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling affirming his office’s control over certain settlement funds, and low name identification for both candidates in July polling. The November 3 general election occurs in a state Trump carried in 2024, yet the contest remains rated Lean Democratic by forecasters amid standard incumbency advantages and separate down-ballot dynamics.
