Forecast models from the National Weather Service and private sources converge on a high of 100–102°F for Austin on September 12, driven by persistent southerly flow, minimal cloud cover, and a strong surface high that has kept central Texas under hot, dry conditions for several days. Recent observations show afternoon readings already reaching the upper 90s to near 100°F, with heat indices above 105°F, aligning with the late-summer climatology where such temperatures occur several times per September. The market’s heavy weighting toward the 100–101°F and 102–103°F bins reflects this tight model consensus and low precipitation probability, though minor shifts in timing or boundary-layer moisture could still nudge the official reading one degree in either direction before resolution.
