Current forecasts from the National Weather Service and major models show Dallas highs on September 1 near 98–102°F under persistent high pressure, clear skies, and southerly flow, well above the 1991–2020 average of 93.7°F. This late-summer heat wave, extending from late August, stems from a strong subtropical ridge limiting cloud cover and moisture while enhancing downslope warming. Minor variations in model runs, timing of any weak frontal approach, and exact maximum timing create the even 25% probabilities across the 96–103°F bins, as small shifts in boundary-layer mixing or wind could alter the peak by 2–4°F. Updated NWS guidance and local observations in the next 48 hours will refine resolution criteria.
