Democratic incumbent Derek Tran advanced from the June 2026 top-two primary with 53.8% of the vote in California's 45th Congressional District, facing Republican Chuong Vo in the November general. The seat, spanning portions of Orange and Los Angeles counties with sizable Vietnamese-American and Latino populations, carries a D+3 partisan voting index and an 8-point Democratic registration edge following redistricting. Forecasters rate the race Likely or Lean Democratic, reflecting the district's underlying tilt, Tran's narrow 2024 victory, and typical midterm dynamics favoring the opposition party. Traders price the Democratic outcome at 88.5% on the basis of these structural and incumbency factors, with the Republican path limited absent significant shifts in turnout or national conditions.
