Costco’s executives have cemented the $1.50 hot-dog combo as an untouchable brand promise and loss-leader staple, with CEO Ron Vachris reaffirming in March 2026 that the price “will not change as long as I’m around.” Recent tweaks, including an April 2026 Kirkland water option alongside the soda, preserved the flat rate that has held since 1984 despite inflation and shifting suppliers. Traders see this pattern of public vows and operational flexibility as locking in “No” through 2026. A realistic challenge could emerge only from acute, sustained cost spikes in beef or operations that override the cultural and marketing value of the deal, a scenario the company has historically avoided.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the price of a standard Costco hot dog and 20 oz soda combo before tax exceeds $1.50 in any Costco store in the United States by December 31, 2026, 11:59PM ET. Otherwise this market will resolve to "No".
If Costco announces they will increase the price, this market will resolve to "Yes" regardless of whether that change is actually implemented.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Costco, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
