Eurozone trader sentiment on 2026 annual HICP inflation centers on the ECB’s June 2026 Eurosystem staff projections, which lifted the baseline forecast to a 3.0% average after upward revisions to energy prices stemming from Middle East geopolitical tensions. Recent monthly prints near 2.8–2.9% through July, alongside sticky core components, reinforce the higher path priced by markets. Professional forecasters’ 2.7% median sits below the ECB baseline, yet real-money positioning favors outcomes above 3.1% given persistent commodity pressures and the central bank’s meeting-by-meeting stance. Key upcoming catalysts include September projections and any further energy-price volatility that could alter the implied rate trajectory.
