Recent August ISM Manufacturing PMI data at 54.6, down from July's 55.6 high, highlights moderating momentum that shapes trader sentiment for September, with new orders easing to 53.7 and backlogs contracting while production held near 58.3. Persistent price pressures at 71.1 reflect tariff impacts and geopolitical tensions, including Middle East conflicts elevating input costs, even as employment expanded modestly to 51.2. The sector has now grown for eight straight months above the 50 expansion threshold, supported by low customer inventories and AI-related demand, though forecasts point to readings near 54. Market-implied odds clustered around 52.0–54.9 at roughly 25% each underscore uncertainty, with swing factors including order trends and supply-chain dynamics ahead of the October 1 release.

The resolution source for this market will be the ISM Manufacturing PMI Report On Business released for September 2026 (https://www.ismworld.org/supply-management-news-and-reports/reports/ism-report-on-business/), currently scheduled to be released on October 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM ET.
