Official forecasts from the National Weather Service and other meteorological sources project a high near 98–99°F for Atlanta on September 5 under sunny skies, light northwest winds, and strong solar heating amid an ongoing heat wave. Heat indices are expected to reach 104–107°F, consistent with recent model runs showing minimal cloud cover or precipitation to suppress afternoon temperatures. This aligns with the market's heavy weighting toward the 96–99°F range, reflecting trader consensus on the most likely official reading at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport while accounting for minor forecast uncertainty in peak timing or exact station measurement. Historical September 5 records top out at 98°F, providing context for the low probabilities assigned to 100°F or higher outcomes.
