Recent polling averages place Labour and National in a tight race for first and second place, each near 30 percent, leaving the contest for third among smaller parties. New Zealand First has frequently polled in the 8–12 percent range, often edging or matching the Greens amid volatility in minor-party support, while ACT trails slightly behind in most aggregates. Recent surveys show the Greens occasionally surging above 13 percent but NZ First benefiting from steadier coalition-government visibility and voter fragmentation on the right. The rising Opportunities Party near or above the 5 percent threshold has added uncertainty to seat projections without directly altering the third-place dynamic. With the November election still months away, these trends underpin trader positioning favoring New Zealand First for third place.
