Official National Weather Service forecasts for San Francisco today project a high near 74°F, with morning marine layer stratus giving way to sunny skies and southwest winds of 5–15 mph, aligning with the market’s strongest implied probabilities clustered at 74–77°F. This outlook reflects a modest warming trend under Southwest ridging that has lifted temperatures slightly above the late-August climatological average of 70°F, though persistent onshore flow and the shallow marine layer continue to suppress extremes along the immediate coast. Recent model consensus from NWS and supporting guidance shows limited upside risk from inland heat advection, keeping probabilities for 78°F or higher below 15% while the 70–73°F range retains secondary support if cloud cover lingers longer than expected. Traders are weighting these official temperature thresholds and wind-driven mixing patterns as the key resolution drivers.
