**Gary Sulz, the incumbent mayor since 2018, holds a clear lead in trader pricing at 69.5% ahead of the October 17, 2026, first-past-the-post election.** His 2022 re-election with roughly 75% of the vote against Nicole Cherlet (22%) provides historical precedent that supports current positioning. Cherlet, a former councillor who has run previously, sits at 21.5% and remains the most visible alternative in market odds. Aaron Orlando, an incumbent councillor, became the first declared challenger in July 2026, citing goals around community amenities and resilience; his entry has not materially shifted the leader’s odds. Nominations for mayor open only on September 1 and close September 11, so the candidate field remains fluid and largely untested. No recent polls, major policy debates, or late-breaking developments have emerged to alter the implied probabilities reflected in the market. Traders appear to price Sulz’s incumbency, name recognition, and prior margin as durable advantages in this low-turnout local race, while treating other potential entrants as lower-probability outcomes until nominations close and campaigning begins in mid-September.
