California’s 37th congressional district remains one of the safest Democratic seats nationwide, with a Cook Partisan Voter Index of D+33 and a voter registration edge exceeding 50 points for Democrats. The June 2026 top-two primary advanced incumbent Sydney Kamlager-Dove and fellow Democrat Samantha Mota to the November general election after no Republican candidate placed in the top two, locking in an all-Democratic contest. Recent mid-decade redistricting approved by voters further reinforced the district’s Democratic tilt across its Los Angeles County urban and diverse electorate. Trader consensus on a Democratic victory reflects these structural realities and the absence of competitive opposition. Even with the outcome appearing settled, an unforeseen development such as candidate withdrawal, major scandal, or court intervention in ballot access could theoretically reopen the race before November 3.
