**Forecast consensus from the National Weather Service and other models points to a high in the low 90s for Houston on September 5, supporting the market's leading 40% implied probability on 90-91°F.** Afternoon thunderstorms, with a 50-60% chance per current guidance, are expected to develop and could limit peak readings through evaporative cooling and cloud cover, consistent with the humid subtropical pattern where dew points remain in the mid-70s. This aligns with September climatology, where the average daily high near 91°F often sees afternoon convection cap extremes. Recent model runs show limited spread, though any delay in storm initiation or stronger steering flow could push readings toward the 92-93°F bin (currently at 11%). Traders appear to weigh these dynamics against the risk of clearer skies allowing brief spikes into the mid-90s, with updates from the Houston/Galveston NWS office likely to refine odds ahead of resolution.
