Recent National Weather Service forecasts from Peachtree City peg Atlanta’s overnight low for September 18 near 73°F under partly cloudy skies with a slight storm chance, aligning with the market’s tight clustering around the 72-73°F bin at 39.5% implied probability. Primary drivers include limited radiative cooling from residual moisture and variable low-level winds, which models show could keep readings in the low 70s rather than allowing clearer, calmer conditions to push lows toward 68-70°F. Urban heat island effects at Hartsfield-Jackson and surrounding stations add further uncertainty, while any evening convection could suppress the minimum by 1-2°F. Traders appear to weigh these mesoscale variables against climatological September averages near 65°F, with upcoming evening model updates likely to refine the exact threshold.
