Incumbent Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, who won his March 2026 primary, faces Republican nominee Eric Flores, an Army veteran who defeated Mayra Flores in the GOP primary, in the November 3 general election for Texas's 34th congressional district. Recent June-July 2026 polls show a toss-up with Gonzalez holding narrow leads or small deficits of 1-6 points. South Texas demographics, border-related voter priorities, and national midterm dynamics with Republicans holding a slim House majority contribute to the competitive environment. Trader consensus priced at 73% for Democrats appears driven by Gonzalez's incumbency edge and historical district patterns despite the tight polling averages.
