Ben Dudman holds a modest lead in trader consensus for the Meander Valley mayoral race ahead of Tasmania’s October 2026 local government elections, while Wayne Johnston sits at low odds after announcing in April he would not seek another term following eight years as mayor. Multiple independent candidates remain closely matched because local contests in the municipality typically feature broad fields and preference flows that can shift late. Dudman, a sitting councillor, has highlighted community consultation, waste services expansion, and infrastructure delivery in recent statements, giving him visible early positioning. With polling still weeks away and no dominant frontrunner emerging from council debates or candidate forums, the market reflects uncertainty over how voter turnout and preference distribution among the remaining contenders will resolve.
