This outcome reflects cooler-than-normal conditions driven by a passing frontal system and northeasterly flow that suppressed daytime heating, keeping maximum temperatures well below the May climatological average of 84°F. National Weather Service forecast discussions highlighted model agreement on limited mixing and cloud cover, preventing the typical springtime ramp-up to the mid-80s or higher. While rare late-day warming could theoretically push readings into the next bin, the verified station data leaves little room for deviation from this range.
